Fort Collins is split into two districts, with this district encompassing the east half of town. Fort Collins was built as a military outpost in 1864, and the fort was decommissioned in 1868 after a large influx of settlers made the fort redundant. The east side of town has more of the larger industrial sites, such as the Anheuser-Busch brewery.
