U.S. House Districts
Colorado U.S. House District Map
To display a district, pick the district from drop down menu, and clicking the Add button will add it to the map. If the map becomes slow, Clear All Lines will remove all districts from the map, which will generally restore order.
The markers are numbered by district to prevent any confusion over which district is which. The color of the marker indicate the current affiliation of the representative elected to the seat. If you click on the marker, a window will appear that has a link that will take you a page with the representative's district map and information about that district.
Elections
In the 2004 elections, John Salazar replaced retiring Scott McInnis in District 3. In the 2006 elections, District 5 and District 7 will be open seats since Representative Hefley announced his retirement and Representative Bob Beauprez running for Governor.
In 2006, District 1 and 2 will be safe, with only minimal opposition. In District 2, Rep. Udall has already announced his intentions to run for the Senate in 2008, and without a strong challenger, he can stockpile money for his future race by transfering any money from 2006 House fund to his Senate campaign in 2008. In District 4, Rep. Musgrave has not yet solidified her hold on the District, and the same is true in District 3, where Rep. John Salazar was elected in 2004. In District 6, Rep. Tom Tancredo hard-line immigration stance has brought out a strong challenge from Bill Winter. A five way Republican primary in District 5 will determine the challenger to Jay Fawcett in a heavy Republican district.
